International Data Corporation recently reported that the average company will need to take several steps to reach mature performance within its strategies pertaining to the IoT. According to the analysts, the majority of leaders in the private sector are indeed unified in their opinions regarding the IoT’s place in the modern office, with more than 50 percent citing it as a strategic driver throughout their operations that will be a priority in the coming years.
“The Internet of Things is enabling businesses and IT to connect, transform and innovate across all aspects of a company, thus becoming a key driver in the digital transformation discussion,” Vernon Turner, senior vice president for the IoT, explained. “Having a road map to navigate this journey is critical given that new IoT eco-systems and business rules will demand companies to create highly customized customer experiences.”
The primary stage cited by the analysts will pertain to ad hoc efforts, while the final process involves comprehensive optimization. For obvious reasons, that final stage will only be reached when analytics use is on point and properly integrated into the IoT’s strategic procedures.
Analytics have been invaluable for companies that are working to more fluidly and efficiently embrace novel trends, and the IoT is no different. Big data can help departments more quickly and accurately evaluate all of the risks, opportunities and management requirements involved in the IoT than when trying to approach the matters with traditional, outdated planning processes.
