Hoppecke Batterien, Germany's Largest Battery Maker, Chooses Monarch to Transform SAP Reports into Powered-Up Data
"For our company, we generate division-oriented accountings by using Excel links to combine various SAP accounting lists with other master dat, such as material group, account name, expense center classification, etc. Monarch provides marketing and factory outcome, monthly and cumulative. With this Monarch project, we can process about 25,000 single data records from SAP every year."
Hoppecke Batterien, established in 1927, is the largest manufacturer and supplier of batteries in Europe. The Brilon, Germany-based company has successfully used Monarch software for over ten years.
Monarch products have played a vital role in the company's financial management processes. Monarch has proved invaluable in analyzing and combining the large volume of reports generated from SAP along with other data.
Hans-Joachim Siebertz, manager of the controlling and accounting department at Hoppecke, certainly appreciates Monarch Pro's unique ability to compare actual report data from SAP against budget figures held in Excel. "I have never considered using any other system," he says.
"We mainly process accounting summary records, expense center summary records, detailed production information and sales summary records from all departments and fields. All data comes from the SAP file transfer. Additionally, in many cases, planning data is generated in Excel and then evaluated and analyzed together with compressed actual information in Monarch. With Monarch Pro, we can easily summarize and analyze the mass of data from SAP and we can also add other master data, such as Excel files, for obtaining new evaluations and findings."
"For our company, we generate division-oriented accountings by using Excel links to combine various SAP accounting lists with other master data - such as material group, account name, expense center classification, etc. - (Monarch) provides marketing and factory outcome, monthly and cumulative. With this Monarch project, we have to process about 25,000 single data records from SAP every year."
The ability to mine, export and convert data from existing text-based or PDF reports while maintaining ease of use is another important aspect of Monarch Pro's usability: "Monarch Pro, with its linked tables and connections to Excel, is absolutely necessary for my work, because it is rather difficult to process [SAP] reports in Excel," explains Mr. Siebertz.
Without Monarch, it would be impossible to carry out important parts of the busy company's reporting. For example, Mr. Siebertz and his colleagues use Monarch Pro to combine planning data generated in Excel with the summary records from SAP (currently SAP R3 4.7), and also to evaluate internet tables. Customized data generated in Monarch can, of course, be saved as Excel files.
"(Monarch) is very easy to learn and to understand and it can always be applied and adopted to new jobs and issues," adds Mr. Siebertz.
