Michael A. Morrison

President and Chief Executive Officer

Michael Morrison is President and Chief Executive Officer of Datawatch Corporation, and is responsible for driving the vision and strategy for Datawatch’s business growth and market leadership. Prior to Datawatch, Morrison was vice president, financial performance management at IBM, and held a similar position at Cognos prior to its acquisition by IBM in 2008.

Before Cognos, he was chief operating officer at Applix Inc., a leader in business analytics software. During his three-year tenure at Applix, Morrison was responsible for all sales operations, marketing, business development and customer support. During this time, the company emerged as the fastest growing vendor in its market segment, achieving compound annual growth rates in excess of 30 percent. Applix was acquired by Cognos in 2007. Morrison holds a J.D. from Boston College Law School and a B.S. in Mathematics from Tufts University.


James Eliason

Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer

As Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, James Eliason is responsible for all aspects of the company’s financial strategy and operations. Jim brings 20 years of experience to the Datawatch leadership team, including corporate finance, investor relations, sales operations, mergers and acquisitions, human resources and information technology.

Prior to joining Datawatch, Eliason served as CFO of Qvidian Corporation, an enterprise software company that provides cloud-based sales enablement and analytics applications. From 2008 to 2011, he served as CFO of Desktone, Inc., a SaaS software company that provides a desktop cloud enablement platform. From 2004 to 2008, he served as CFO of Empirix, Inc., a high growth technology company that provides analytic tools for voice and data applications. Earlier in his career, he held senior finance positions with Narad Networks, Inc. and Silverstream Software, Inc. Jim spent four years at Arthur Andersen & Company in the audit practice and has been a certified public accountant.


Dan Potter

Chief Marketing Officer

Dan Potter is Chief Marketing Officer at Datawatch Corporation. In this role, Dan is responsible for the worldwide marketing communications, product marketing and go-to-market strategies for Datawatch. Prior to Datawatch, Dan led the product marketing and go-to-market strategy for IBM’s personal and workgroup analytics products and the online community and social media strategy for IBM’s initiative. Prior to IBM, he held senior roles at Oracle, Progress, and Attunity where he was responsible for identifying and launching solutions across a variety of emerging markets including cloud computing, real-time data streaming, federated data, and e-commerce.

Dan is an accomplished public speaker with numerous presentations delivered at major industry conferences and events. He has been recognized by Mass High Tech as “Mover & Innovator” (May 2005) and a recipient of Oracle President’s Award for Outstanding Contribution. Dan was also a featured presenter on Marketing Measurement at the Forrester Research Marketing Executive Council event. Potter earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from University of New Hampshire.


Jon Pilkington

Chief Product Officer

As Chief Product Officer, Jon Pilkington brings more than two decades of business analytics experience to Datawatch, including 18 years in the business intelligence market. Jon joins Datawatch from Sonian Systems, a public cloud email archiving vendor, where he served as vice president of marketing and product management. Jon helped that company raise more than $20 million in venture funding while establishing Sonian as a global leader in public cloud email archiving.

Prior to Sonian, Jon was vice president of marketing and product management at Metatomix, a real-time data integration vendor. Jon previously spent 13 years at Cognos in a variety of executive roles, including vice president of business intelligence product management, vice president of global solution architects and vice president of North American field marketing. Jon holds a B.S. in Management Information Systems from Bryant University and is the recipient of several industry awards, including the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council 2008 “CXO of the Year.”


Peter Simpson

Vice President of Visualization Strategy

Peter Simpson is Vice President of Visualization Strategy and is responsible for driving the vision and strategy for Datawatch’s visual data discovery solutions. Peter joined Datawatch through the acquisition of Panopticon where he held the role of SVP Research & Development and had responsibility for product strategy, development, sales engineering and services, and helped to successfully expand the customer base to most top tier global financial institutions.

Prior to Datawatch, he was Product Manager at Instant Information, a provider of news analytics solutions to trading desks. He also held analytical roles at HSBC Global Markets within Technology, Equities, and Research for several years. Peter holds a MSc in Info Systems Engineering and a BSc in Physics with Space Science & Technology.


Brigid MacDonald

Vice President, Human Resources

Brigid MacDonald is Vice President of human resources for Datawatch and brings extensive experience in organizational development, compensation design, performance management, mergers and acquisitions, benefit plan design, employee relations, recruitment and retention.  In her role, Brigid leads global human resources with an overall mandate to integrate its human resource plans with Datawatch’s operational business strategy.

Brigid was most recently vice president, human resources and a member of the executive team at Empirix, Inc.   While under her direction and the institution of various HR initiatives, the organization received the Best Places to Work award by the Boston Business Journal.  She has also held senior human resources positions at Institute for Healthcare Improvement and The Picker Institute.  Brigid holds a B.A. in Finance from St. Mary’s College in South Bend, Indiana and a M.S. in Management from Boston University.
