Michael A. Morrison, President and Chief Executive Officer
Michael Morrison is president and chief executive officer of Datawatch Corporation, and is responsible for driving the vision and strategy for Datawatch’s visual data discovery solutions. Prior to Datawatch, Morrison was vice president, financial performance management at IBM, and held a similar position at Cognos prior to its acquisition by IBM in 2008. Before Cognos, he was chief operating officer at Applix Inc., a leader in business analytics software.
During his three-year tenure at Applix, Morrison was responsible for all sales operations, marketing, business development and customer support. During this time, the company emerged as the fastest growing vendor in its market segment, achieving compound annual growth rates in excess of 30 percent. Applix was acquired by Cognos in 2007. Morrison holds a J.D. from Boston College Law School and a B.S. in Mathematics from Tufts University.
James Eliason, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer
As chief financial officer and treasurer, James Eliason is responsible for all aspects of the company’s financial strategy and operations. Jim brings 20 years of experience to the Datawatch leadership team, including corporate finance, investor relations, sales operations, mergers and acquisitions, human resources and information technology. Prior to joining Datawatch, Eliason served as CFO of Qvidian Corporation, an enterprise software company that provides cloud-based sales enablement and analytics applications. From 2008 to 2011, he served as CFO of Desktone, Inc., a SaaS software company that provides a desktop cloud enablement platform. From 2004 to 2008, he served as CFO of Empirix, Inc., a high growth technology company that provides analytic tools for voice and data applications. Earlier in his career, he held senior finance positions with Narad Networks, Inc. and Silverstream Software, Inc. Jim spent four years at Arthur Andersen & Company in the audit practice and has been a certified public accountant.
Ben Plummer, Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President, Strategic Alliances
As chief marketing officer and senior vice president, Strategic Alliances, Ben Plummer is responsible for the worldwide marketing and communications strategy as well as business and partner development. Ben joined Datawatch from IBM Cognos, where he was vice president, data discovery and analytics. Prior to IBM Cognos, Plummer was chief marketing officer at Applix, Inc., a leader in business analytics software, which was acquired by Cognos in 2007. Before Applix, Plummer was senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Outlooksoft Corporation, a performance management software company that was subsequently acquired by SAP. Plummer previously spent 13 years at Cognos in a number of executive positions, including vice president of customer operations, vice president of North American marketing, vice president of global marketing and vice president of global partner operations. During his career, Plummer has also held positions as senior vice president of marketing for Convera, a search and content management solution provider, and executive vice president of Clareos, a high-volume OLAP engine software company. Plummer holds a B.S. in Information Management Systems from the University of Maryland and is recognized as a thought leader in the industry.
Harvey Gross, Chief Technology Officer and Vice President Product Management and Development
As chief technology officer and vice president of product management and development, Harvey Gross is responsible for driving Datawatch product strategy, positioning and product development, and extending the company into new markets that provide opportunity for future growth. Additional responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations of the worldwide development staff. Harvey has more than 30 years of product development, product management, sales and commercial operations experience in the content management and business process market. He joined Datawatch in February of 2007.
Prior to joining Datawatch, he was the principal consultant at HG & Associates, a content management consultancy serving a variety of companies in business, technology and the federal government, and a principal consultant at eVisory, a leading industry consulting group.
Previous positions include CTO for Lason, Inc., an international business process outsourcing firm, where he established an electronic content management service and was instrumental in growing the business to $20 million. Other roles include senior vice president at Virtual Image Technologies, Inc., a regional document management service company, and senior vice president of product development at 360Services, Inc.
Sanjay Mistry, Corporate Controller and Vice President
As corporate controller and vice president, Sanjay Mistry brings more than 20 years of Financial and operational experience in high technology and public companies to Datawatch. Prior to joining Datawatch, Mistry served as vice president of Finance for NP Medical and Radius Product Development, two independent companies within Nypro, Inc., a $1 billion global manufacturer. Sanjay served as director of Finance at Novell Inc. a global software services company, from 1999 until it was sold to private equity partners in 2011. Earlier in his career, he held several senior Finance positions with Honeywell and Motorola, Inc.
Jon Pilkington, Vice President of Products
As vice president of Products, Jon Pilkington brings more than two decades of business analytics experience to Datawatch, including 18 years in the business intelligence market. Jon joins Datawatch from Sonian Systems, a public cloud email archiving vendor, where he served as vice president of marketing and product management. Jon helped that company raise more than $20 million in venture funding while establishing Sonian as a global leader in public cloud email archiving. Prior to Sonian, Jon was vice president of marketing and product management at Metatomix, a real-time data integration vendor. Jon previously spent 13 years at Cognos in a variety of executive roles, including vice president of business intelligence product management, vice president of global solution architects and vice president of North American field marketing. Jon holds a B.S. in Management Information Systems from Bryant University and is the recipient of several industry awards, including the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council 2008 “CXO of the Year.”
Mike Carroll, Vice President of Worldwide Sales Support
As vice president of Worldwide Sales Support, Mike Carroll brings 32 years of business experience to Datawatch. The first half of Mike’s business career was spent in the oil and gas industry where he held Controller and CFO roles for small, independent producers. The last 15 years he has been running successful organizations in the software business. Most recently Mike was Director of North American Presales at Applix, Inc. Applix was purchased by Cognos and subsequently purchased by IBM in 2009. Mike was responsible for integrating the Applix team into the larger Cognos/IBM organization. Mike was promoted to Business Unit Executive where he led one of the highest performing of the five commercial teams within the IBM Business Analytics group. Mike is a graduate of Texas A&M University. He is married with two children and lives in Plano, Texas.
